SATURDAY’S HAPPY NEWS OF THE APPOINTMENT OF BISHOP JOSEPH DABROWSKI, C.S.M.A., as the 10th Bishop of Hamilton has been welcomed across the Diocese. Having served as Auxiliary Bishop of London, the Bishop knows the area well, and he has friends in London and here! We look forward to welcoming him for a brief visit mid-month, when he will begin his transition from Charlottetown to Hamilton. We pray for him as he prepares to take up his new duties here.

JUBILEE YEAR HEROES OF HOPE for November are Ministers to the Dying and Bereaved. Those who serve in Palliative Care and Hospice Care throughout the Diocese bring hope to those facing the end-of-life-journey with dignity and reassuring comfort. Parish priests, Deacons, and Special Ministers of Communion bring the Sacrament of the Eucharist to those who are dying. The Anointing of the Sick is celebrated when requested. A WALK WITH JESUS RETREAT DAY FOR GRIEVING PARENTS – The loss of a child is a most challenging event in the life of any parent. The Diocese invites you to join us for a retreat day for parents who have lost a child through death. Whether the loss is recent or some time ago, you are welcome to this day of healing and support. The retreat will be offered at the Basilica of Our Lady in Guelph from 9 am to 4 pm on Saturday, November 22nd. Registration is required so we know how many to set up for and how much lunch to order, with a cost of $20. You can register here or by calling the office at 905-528-7988 ext. 2249.

WHEN LIFE CHANGES PART ONE – Has someone you cared about died? Are you grieving the loss of the person’s presence in your life? Are you looking for relief from the feelings associated with the loss of this loved one? You are not alone! The Hamilton Diocese offers a six-week grief program for your support and education on grief. Part one of the program will be offered on Wednesdays from November 5th to December 10th from 7:00-8:30 pm and will be held at the Chancery Office, at 700 King St. West.in Hamilton. THE CCCB STANDING COMMITTEE FOR FAMILY AND LIFE invites interested participants to the semi-annual National Family and Life Networking Workshop, on Wednesday, November 19th, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. The session will open with an introduction and presentation by Archbishop Christian Lepine, and Dr. Michelle Dabrowski, Ph.D., Director of the CCCB Family Life Office. ST. JOSEPH’S HEALTH CENTRE FOUNDATION in Guelph has launched an historic $15 million Building Better Healthcare Campaign for better technologies, better spaces and better care. St. Joseph’s Healthcare has been present in Guelph for almost 165 years! It is a fundraiser to be supported!
