THE ADVENT DAY OF PRAYER FOR PRIESTS SERVING IN THE DIOCESE takes place at the Cathedral Basilica of Christ the King, Hamilton, on Tuesday, December 5th, and at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Waterloo, on Wednesday, December 6th. Priests are invited to attend either session, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Father Sam Restivo, C.R., is the homilist for both events. The day will provide an opportunity for Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, the Sacrament of Reconciliation, and Benediction, along with a good meal and fraternal interaction…

THE WORLD DAY OF THE POOR announced by Pope Francis at the end of the Jubilee Year of Mercy, will be marked this year on Sunday, November 19th. The theme of this year’s event, “Love not in word but in deed”, seeks to sensitize the consciences of believers to the cries of the poor and the suffering. Pope Francis will preside at Mass with the poor in St. Peter’s Basilica, and after the recitation of the Angelus, there will be a sitdown lunch in the Audience Hall of the Vatican…

FROM INFORMATION TO TRANSFORMATION is the title given to a Catholic leadership program sponsored by the “Partnership” of the seven Catholic school boards in the Diocese, along with St. Jerome’s University and the Diocese of Hamilton. The first graduates of the program received diplomas following a Mass at the Cathedral Basilica in October. A second program is being planned by the Partnership Team to begin in May 2018. It will welcome about 25 candidates from Partnership organizations. Special thanks to Cathy Horgan for overseeing the first very successful experience!

Congratulations to St. Jerome’s University on completing the renovation of Notre Dame Chapel. The Chapel will be blessed during the 10:30 a.m. Sunday Mass on November 19th. Thanks to Martha Fauteux and her team for seeing the project through to completion
