The Saint John's Bible at the Diocese of Hamilton

Date posted on June 27, 2025

THE SAINT JOHN’S BIBLE (Heritage Edition) has visited many Catholic High Schools throughout the Diocese, often more than once during the school year. High School bookings are already in place for the 2025-2026 school year! Please note that the Bible will be displayed at the Cathedral Basilica of Christ the King in Hamilton on the Tuesdays during August from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. when visitors are welcome.

TWO WOMEN FROM OUR DIOCESE will take vows as Consecrated Women Living in the World at a ceremony presided by Bishop Wayne Lobsinger at the Cathedral Basilica of Christ the King, on Saturday morning at 11:00 a.m. An opportunity to greet Ms. Jenny Benjamin and Ms. Manju Mathew will follow in the Chancery Office. All are welcome! May the Lord bless your generous commitment.

ST. JEROME’S UNIVERSITY celebrates the Feast of Saint Jerome this year on October 4, 2025. Mass will be celebrated in Notre Dame Chapel at 5:00 p.m., followed by a reception in the Atrium Centre and Dinner at 7:00 p.m.  The keynote speaker for the event is this year’s recipient of the Chancellor John R. and Kay Sweeney Award, Dr. Mark McGowan, Professor of History and Celtic Studies, and Principal Emeritus at St. Michael’s College in the University of Toronto. It is THE social event of the year at St. Jerome’s and an important fundraiser to support student bursaries! Make plans to join us!

WEDNESDAY WAS “MOVING DAY” in the Diocese of Hamilton. New Pastors and Associates have begun their ministry in their newly assigned parishes. Thanks to the Priests who have accepted new appointments. We pray for you as you begin a new and generous service in the Diocese. May God bless your pastoral care!

FATHER PAWEL SZYMANOWSKI, C.R. has accepted a teaching position in Moral Theology at the Oblate School of Theology in San Antonio, Texas. He begins this new ministry in August. He will be teaching in the Masters of Divinity program, with just over 60 seminarians and some lay students. We offer our congratulations to Father Pawel on this new and important service to the Church!

ARCHBISHOP PETER HUNDT is the Director for the August 2025 Retreat for Priests to be held at Mount Carmel Retreat Centre in Niagara Falls, August 18th-22nd.  The Archbishop is well-known in the Diocese, and many Priests have registered to hear his reflections. May the time be richly blessed.

THE CHANCERY AND CATHEDRAL STAFF gathered for a luncheon yesterday, marking the beginning of summer hours at the Chancery. For July and August, the office closes on Friday at 1 p.m. The office is closed on June 30th and July 1st, and opens at 9 a.m. on Wednesday. Enjoy the summer months!  Heart to Heart will return in early September. Special editions may appear during the summer if there is “news”!

OUR LADY OF THE ANNUNCIATION, pray for us! Ex corde, +Douglas, OMI
