THE KATERI TEKAKWITHA CATHOLIC STUDENT CENTRE at Canadian Martyrs Parish in Hamilton was blessed following Mass last Sunday. The Centre has been open for several months already, providing a welcoming space for students of McMaster University. Fr. Bradley Markus, Mr. Paul O’Hagen, and Sr. Mary McIntyre, CSJ, provide pastoral care. The construction included a make-over of the parish hall, giving improved meeting space for parishioners and students alike! A beautiful job, well-done!

DEACON KEVIN UPENDRAN has been called to the Priesthood in the Diocese of Hamilton. His priestly ordination will take place at the Cathedral Basilica of Christ the King at 11:00 a.m. on May 7, 2022. Following his ordination, Father Upendran will serve in St. Ann Parish, Ancaster for the summer months. He will return to St. Mary’s Seminary in Baltimore in September, to complete his STL in Licentiate of Moral Theology. We congratulate Father, and wish him God’s richest blessings!

They came in response to the invitation from Vicar General Rev. E. Gordon to care for orphan children of immigrants. From that time, 170 years ago to now, the Sisters have served the people in the Hamilton Diocese, even before it was officially a diocese. Then, as now, they lived in the heart of the city, not separating themselves from those whom they came to serve.
