Pope Francis entrusts to God’s mercy the victims of the tragic fire at L’Isle Verte, and prayerfully shares in the grief of the bereaved families. Mr. John O’Brien has been elected President of the Catholic Umbrella Pool II, a reinsurance operated by the Catholic Mutual Group out of Omaha. The Diocesan Personnel Board meets to study personnel needs and possible appointments for our Diocese.

News of the death of Fr. James Profit, SJ, last Saturday evening, surrounded by his family and friends in Prince Edward Island, travelled quickly to and throughout the Diocese of Hamilton. Pope Francis announced the creation of 19 new Cardinals at the Sunday Angelus earlier this week. Canadian Archbishop Gérald Cyprien Lacroix, Archbishop of Quebec City and Primate for Canada, was among those designated to serve the Church in this capacity. The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity begins on Sunday and continues through to next Sunday, January 26.
