Diocesan Choir

Diocesan Choir

The Diocesan Choir was formed in 1982 by Msgr. Murray J. Kroetsch, then Director of the Liturgy Office. The intent was to have choir members from various parts of the diocese come together to rehearse and then lead the singing at Diocesan Liturgies at the Cathedral Basilica of Christ the King. In 1991, the choir added an Advent Hymn Festival, taking this event to various parishes in the diocese.  The first choir director was Sr. Mary Ambrose, CSJ, followed by Joyce Knarr. Sharon Fazari is presently the choir director and choir members represent more than twenty-five parishes in the diocese.

The Diocesan Choir provides music for the annual celebrations of the Rite of Election, Chrism Mass, Mass with New Catholics and Priesthood Ordination and the Ordination of Permanent Deacons. They also lead an Advent Hymn festival each year. New members are asked to audition. If interested, contact Sharon Fazari.
