THE BISHOPS OF CANADA WILL CONSECRATE CANADA to the Immaculate Heart of Mary at a ceremony at Notre Dame Cathedral Basilica in Ottawa next Tuesday, the Feast of the Holy Canadian Martyrs, following a Mass at which the 150th Anniversary of Confederation and the 50th Anniversary of the Canadian Catholic Organization for Development and Peace will be marked.

The exterior restoration work at the Cathedral is nearing completion. Stone repointing, repair and cleaning, replacement of copper, slate and flat roofs on the Cathedral, the Bishop’s Residence, and Rectory, as well as restoration of the solid oak entrance doors should be completed sometime in October.

Newcomers to Canada were hosted at BBQ picnics this summer. Father Laszlo Amaszka and Father Peter Ciallella and the Refugee Committee at St. John the Baptist Parish in Hamilton organized a BBQ in July for the Hamilton-area Parishes.
