Priesthood

The Diocese of Hamilton is dedicated to fostering and encouraging the vocation of Priesthood in young men of the Catholic faith.

A parish priest is responsible for administering sacraments, proclaiming the Word of God, and providing pastoral care for all parishioners, including youth, families, the elderly, the sick and the homebound.

Whether you are discerning a call to the priesthood or supporting a friend or family member pursuing a vocation, the Vocations Office is here to provide spiritual guidance and ongoing support.

May the Lord help you to know your vocation and to respond with an open and generous heart.

Seminarian BBQ August 2025

Bishop Lobsinger (shown to the right of the photo) hosted the Annual Social and Summer BBQ at his residence for our 21 seminarians (one attended virtually). Bishop Crosby (shown in the middle of the photo) attended as well as some of the pastors who had seminarians placed with them over the summer.

Soon our seminarians will disperse to St. Peter’s London, Sacred Heart Milwaukee, St. Augustine’s Toronto and St. Alban’s Spain. Please pray for them! And please pray in gratitude for their call as well as for more vocations to the priesthood for our diocese. If you would like to join our Men’s Discernment Group that meets once a month, contact Father Mark Morley, Director of Vocations.
