Bishop Dabrowski to participate in Rome meeting on the family with Pope Leo XIV

Date posted on October 6, 2026

Bishop Joseph Dabrowski, C.S.M.A., will be in Rome from October 7 to 14 for a meeting convened by Pope Leo XIV to mark the 10th anniversary of Amoris Laetitia, Pope Francis’ 2016 Apostolic Exhortation on love in the family.

Appointed by the Permanent Council of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops, Bishop Dabrowski will join the CCCB President, the Most Reverend Pierre Goudreault, in representing the bishops of Canada. Cardinal Gérald Lacroix will also participate at the personal invitation of the Holy Father, along with a married couple from Quebec.

The meeting’s theme is “Proclaiming the Gospel with families today.” The gathering will focus on five areas: families today and the realities they face; young people and the vocation to marriage; the first years of married life; accompanying families experiencing difficulties; and Christian families as subjects of the Church’s mission.

Please keep the Holy Father, our Bishop, and all those participating in the meeting, and families throughout the world in your prayers.

Updates from Rome will be shared through the Diocese of Hamilton’s communications channels as the meeting unfolds.
