“The Beginning of a New Presence” – Celebrating Easter in the Diocese of Hamilton
Date posted on April 14, 2026
The Diocese of Hamilton gathered on April 5th at the Cathedral Basilica of Christ the King to celebrate the Solemnity of Easter Sunday, the Resurrection of the Lord. The Mass was celebrated by Bishop Joseph Dabrowski, CSMA, as the faithful from across the Diocese came together in joyful celebration of Christ’s victory over sin and death.
In his homily, Bishop Dabrowski reflected on the Gospel account of Mary Magdalene at the empty tomb, reminding the faithful that “the empty tomb is not a sign of absence; it is the beginning of a new presence.”
Pointing to signs of new life within the Diocese, Bishop Dabrowski noted that six new members were received into the Church at the Cathedral Basilica, with more than 350 women and men baptized, confirmed, and received into full communion across the Diocese this Easter.
At the conclusion of the Mass, Bishop Dabrowski extended Easter greetings in several languages—including English, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Filipino, Ukrainian, Slovenian, and Polish—reflecting the rich diversity and unity of the Diocesan community.
The celebration at the Cathedral Basilica stood as a joyful witness to the faith of the Diocese, and a reminder that the light of Christ continues to shine, bringing hope and renewal to the world.
