Diocese of Hamilton Student Award: Brady Kuzma

Date posted on July 12, 2023

Corpus Christi Catholic Secondary School, Burlington

Brady Kuzma is an exceptional Catholic student leader who is active in his school and the greater community.

He volunteered for many roles in his school community, including being on the Student Council all four years of high school and being elected Prime Minister in his grade 12 year. In addition, he helped to run the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusivity club with his chaplain during the pandemic in an effort to keep his school community united. Brady was also active in his school’s faith community, acting as an altar server for school masses and aiding in the saying of prayer and the land acknowledgment on the school announcements.

Brady was also elected as a student trustee for the HCDSB (Halton Catholic District School Board), where he was given the opportunity to serve the greater Halton community. Through this, he attended events such as the HCCF (Halton Catholic Children’s Foundation) Evening with Bishop Crosby and a Lobby Day at Queens Park. It was at these events that Brady was able to advocate for the importance of Catholic Education in the province.

As well, Brady served on the OSTA (Ontario Student Trustees Association) Catholic Board Council Cabinet, which gave him a great opportunity to serve the over 600,000 students across the province in Catholic Schools. One example of this was his support in facilitating Ontario Catholic Student Youth Day. This day was open to any Catholic student in Ontario, and it featured keynote speeches from Luke Stocking, Fr. Joshua Roldan, and culminated in a lovely mass at St. Michael’s Cathedral Basilica in Toronto celebrated by His Grace Francis Leo.

Despite being extremely busy in his extracurriculars, Brady still achieved extremely high academic performance throughout high school and was named his school’s Student of Excellence. In the Fall he aims to continue his faith journey while studying Business Administration and Computer Science at Wilfred Laurier University.

Congratulations Brady!
