Diocese of Hamilton Student Awards: Elena Hilson

Date posted on July 26, 2022

of Cathedral High School, Hamilton

Elena has been an inspiring Catholic leader from the moment she began her studies in Grade 9 at Cathedral High School. She was elected to Student Council in Grade 9 and has been on Council consistently, culminating in her election as President in her Grade 12 year. Elena also served as a student Trustee this year for the HWCDSB.

Not only is Elena involved in Student Council, she is also an accomplished athlete competing in eight different sports. Elena is a leader in our spiritual and social justice initiatives including; the Liturgy Imagination Team, Pilgrimage, Halloween for Hunger, CHSTV News Crew, and Student Graduation Committee.

During the Covid pandemic, Elena worked as a screener at a nursing home.

Elena has accomplished all of this while maintaining honour roll marks and earning an Excellent Effort Director’s Award.

The Cathedral High School community wishes Elena continued success as she pursues her goal of becoming a French Language Teacher at Queen’s University.

Congratulations Elena!

The Diocese of Hamilton Award is given to a student in the graduating class in every high school across the Diocese at the end of every school year.
