Diocese of Hamilton Student Awards: Anthony Filice

Date posted on August 25, 2022

of St. John Henry Newman Secondary School, Stoney Creek

Anthony has recently graduated from St. John Henry Newman. From a young age, he has been enamoured with his Faith. When he was in the first grade, he loved deciphering the parables of Jesus that were read in class. However, it was not until approximately ten years ago when Father Bill Trusz became Pastor at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish that Faith became the forefront of his life. Over the last ten years he has been an altar server, a lector, a Eucharistic minister, a sacristan, and a leader in the Parish’s Youth Ministry.

In the fall he will be attending the University of Toronto. He is enrolled in the Physical and Chemical sciences program. During this time, Anthony will ensure that his Catholic faith remains the focus of his life.

Congratulations Anthony!

The Diocese of Hamilton Award is given to a student in the graduating class in every high school across the Diocese at the end of every school year. The Award recognizes a student in the graduating class who has attained high academic proficiency and exemplifies Catholic leadership qualities, Christian values and a commitment to service in the community.
