Highlights and Video: Episcopal Ordination of Bishop Wayne Lobsinger

Date posted on April 27, 2021

“This is the day the Lord has made! Forty-eight hours ago, we didn’t know that this was the day. But this is the day. And here it is,” Bishop Lobsinger remarked to those gathered.

The Episcopal Ordination of the Auxiliary Bishop of Hamilton, the Most Reverend Wayne Lobsinger, took place at the Cathedral Basilica of Christ the King in Hamilton, Ontario, on April 18, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. The Most Reverend Bishop Douglas Crosby, OMI, was the principal celebrant, with concelebrants including Bishop Emeritus Anthony Tonnos, Auxiliary Bishop Emeritus Matthew Ustryzcki, and Auxiliary Bishop Emeritus and Bishop of the Diocese of St. Catharines, Bishop Gerard Bergie.

Bishop Douglas Crosby commented that it was a ‘moving’ feast day on the liturgical calendar, with a last-minute change with government restrictions changing due to the ongoing pandemic. With only forty hours to plan, a round of applause echoed throughout the Cathedral to commend those who took the time to make sure everything was ready for that afternoon.

We invite you to watch the full Ordination below, along with a full gallery and a selection of highlights.
