FOLLOWING UPON THE MOVING DIACONATE ORDINATION of Rev. Mr. Moices Rafal Caballero and Rev. Mr. JoonBin Lim by Bishop Wayne Lobsinger last Friday evening, three men will be ordained to the Permanent Diaconate on Saturday morning (11 a.m.) at the Cathedral Basilica of Christ the King. Following completion of the propaedeutic (spiritual discernment) year and four years of monthly study sessions, Rev. Mr. Camille Johnson, Rev. Mr. Michael Kuhl, and Rev. Mr. Richard Olson, will present themselves for ordination as Deacons for service in the Diocese of Hamilton. Deacons make commitments to accept from the Bishop ministries of service and ministry of the altar, benefitting parishes and social services in the Diocese. We pray for God’s rich blessings on our new Deacons.

THE CATHOLIC CHILDREN’S AID SOCIETY OF HAMILTON (CCASH) will hold their 70th Annual General Meeting next Monday afternoon. More than an AGM, the event celebrates the successes of many of the young people who are supported by the agency! The testimonies presented by their counsellors are moving reflections on the vibrancy of the human spirit: God at work within, around, and through us! Thanks to all who work at and support CCASH year after year. You are “saving lives”!

WILMA’S PLACE, a high school dedicated to students who work hard to complete the requirements for their High School graduation diploma, was named after Wilma Scherloski, one of the school’s founders. A lifetime champion of Catholic education, Wilma was Principal at Cathedral Girls’ High School in Hamilton, and finally Superintendent of Education in the Hamilton Wentworth Catholic District School Board. Graduation ceremonies for 2024 take place on Wednesday, June 19th. Wilma was present for last year’s event. She died on March 18, 2024. She will be fondly remembered during this year’s graduation program. May she rest in peace!

THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS FOR ST. PETER’S SEMINARY meets next week in London, Ontario. The meeting gives Rector, Father Denis Grecco the opportunity to report on the successes and challenges faced by the Seminary over the past school year. Many of the Priests of the Diocese of Hamilton are graduates of the Seminary, having received their philosophical, theological and human formation there! The Seminary recently underwent a facelift – improving seminary classrooms, accommodations, dining facilities, and the Chapel. The renovations create an improved learning environment for future Priests, and helps to nurture wholesome human development!

THE SISTERS OF THE POOR OF JESUS CHRIST are planning to promote a new program in Hamilton called BE SOBER to help those in the community who suffer from alcoholism, drug dependency and any form of addiction. The program will also provide support to families who are dealing with a family member struggling with addiction. A new outreach ministry for the Sisters, it will add to their care and concern for needy members of the community. We pray for the effectiveness of this initiative.

PRIESTS IN THE HALTON DEANERY will gather tonight at St. Dominic Parish in Oakville for a barbeque meal. Hosted by Halton Dean, Father Ranjan D’Sa, O.C.D., the evening get-together marks the beginning of similar summer gatherings! Weather permitting, it will be a happy fraternal gathering. Thanks to the Knights of Columbus, who support Father D’Sa in preparing the event!

Our Lady of the Annunciation, pray for us!
