Diocesan Grief Programs and Resources

Programs Offered in Hamilton Area

We offer two (part one and part two) 6-week programs using Dr. Bill Webster’s grief material. These program are intended to help you to understand your grief and provide practical tips for helping you through. In Hamilton, this program is offered twice a year, in the Spring and Fall and all are welcome to attend. Programs are provided by trained facilitators.

When Life Changes - Special video presentation - Grief and Faith, Hope and Meaning – Wednesday July 8th 7-8:30 Marian Room. This video offers Churches, people of faith, and those who want to explore the spiritual side of finding Hope and Meaning after a loss, the opportunity to hear various views and affirmations of how faith has helped in the midst of tragedy. When Life Changes - Grief Support - Series 1 When Life Changes - Grief Support - Series 1 - A 6 week program using Dr. Bill Webster's Grief Support material. This program is intended to help you understand your grief and provides practical tips for helping you through. The program will run Wednesday's starting October 28 - December 2 from 7-8:30 in the Marian Room at St. Andrew Parish Centre, 47 Reynolds St, Oakville. The program will run the following days; Wednesday Oct 28, November 4, November 11, November 18, November 25, December 2nd. COPING WITH THE HOLIDAYS: Designed to assist those who may be finding the thought of Christmas daunting and are looking for support & practical tips on how to handle the upcoming holiday.

WHEN LIFE CHANGES PART ONE! STARTS WEDNESDAY MAY 13 - JUNE 17, 2026

This part ONE of When Life Changes is a six-week grief program written by Dr. Bill Webster and is for those who are grieving. It will run on Wednesdays from May 13h to June 17th at 7:00pm at St. Michael's Parish 80 University Ave. W. Waterloo ON N2L 3C7.  All those who have suffered a loss, regardless of how long ago, are welcome. Heartache to Healing
Monthly Informal Grief Support Group (drop by when you can!)

Join us on the 2nd Wednesday of every month at 7:00 pm in the Parish Resource Centre/Library for an informal gathering to learn, support one another, share and socialize. These ongoing sessions provide familiar support from the group as you continue on your grief journey. Location: St. Michael’s Parish Waterloo, 80 University Ave. W. Waterloo. NO REGISTRATION REQUIRED

Other Resources Available for Support:

  1. Now What? – A comprehensive pamphlet/booklet to assist those experiencing loss; provides an overview of what they may be experiencing and how they can support themselves at this time of loss. (Cost: $5.00)
  2. When Someone You Care About is Grieving – A pamphlet/booklet designed to assist people who are trying to support someone through the grief journey. (Cost: $2.00)
  3. When Families Grieve – this is a package put together by the creators of Sesame Street to assist families in helping their children through the grief process. (No Charge)
