Please join Jenny Benjamin and Manju Matthew on Saturday, June 28, 2025 at 11am at the Cathedral Basilica of Christ the King, Hamilton, Ontario as His Excellency Bishop Wayne Lobsinger, DD, Auxiliary Bishop of Hamilton accepts and confirms their Holy Resolution through a solemn prayer, invoking the Holy Spirit to establish their spousal bond with Christ and consecrate them to God.
The Consecration of Virgins is a sacred rite in the Catholic Church through which women make a lifelong commitment to virginity, dedicating themselves to God and the service of the Church while living in the world. This form of consecrated life dates back to the early Church and was revitalized after the Second Vatican Council. The central purpose of the Consecration of Virgins is to establish a spousal bond between the woman and Christ. Consecrated virgins are called to give a living witness of love to the world and to be a clear sign of the future Kingdom. They dedicate themselves to the service of the Church and participate in the Church’s mission through their various works and apostolates, according to their individual gifts and talents. Consecrated virgins live in various circumstances, alone, with their families, or with other consecrated virgins, supporting themselves through their own work and resources. Their way of life is characterized by prayer, penance, service to others, and a commitment to living out their baptismal vocation in a radical way.
