Very Reverend Michael King
Father Michael King was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan in 1956. His mother was Catholic and his father was Lutheran. His father agreed to raise his children Catholic, but insisted that they attend public school.
Father King attended the University of Michigan and graduated with a BA in psychology. With the intention of eventually returning to the University of Michigan to complete a Masters in Social Work, he came to Hamilton to do Community Organization Work in the North end. Father became active at St. Patrick’s Church in Hamilton, where he grew to know a number of the local clergy.
When he felt a call to priesthood, Bishop Paul Reding invited Father King to study for the Diocese of Hamilton. Father King attended St. Peter’s Seminary in London and was ordained a priest in 1988.
He has served as the pastor of St. Ann’s Church in Kitchener, Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Hamilton, and St. Anthony Daniel’s Church in Kitchener.
In June of 2016, Father Michael King became the Director of Vocations and Priestly Ministry for the Diocese of Hamilton and one year later he took on the role of Vicar for Clergy.
