Statement from the Diocese of Hamilton regarding Fr. Ranjan D’Sa, OCD
Date posted on March 27, 2026
On Tuesday, March 24, 2026, the Diocese of Hamilton learned that Fr. Ranjan D’Sa, a priest of the Carmelite religious order and Pastor of St. Dominic Parish, Oakville, had been charged by the Halton Regional Police Service with one count of sexual assault against an adult female.
In keeping with the Diocese’s safeguarding policies, and in consultation with Fr. D’Sa’s superiors in the Carmelite order, Fr. D’Sa was immediately removed from St. Dominic Parish and is prohibited from all priestly ministry, pending the outcome of the police investigation. He is entitled to due process, and, as with any allegation, the legal process must be allowed to take its course.
The Diocese continues to ensure pastoral care and leadership at St. Dominic Parish while prioritizing the safety and well-being of the parish and school community. Parishioners can be assured that the Diocese is actively managing the parish’s leadership needs during this time.
The Diocese of Hamilton recognizes that allegations of this nature can be deeply concerning for the community. The Diocese treats all allegations of misconduct as serious matters that require immediate attention.
