Wedding Anniversary Mass

Heart to Heart: Issue #546

PHOTOS FROM THE WEDDING ANNIVERSARY MASS are now available on the Diocese of Hamilton Website. Thanks to Nicole Laczko, Communications Office Manager, for “catching the kiss” which lasted only seconds, and for so many other beautiful photos! The photos show the beauty of the Cathedral Basilica, the shared joy of the anniversary couples, and the sacred nature of married love!

MR. PAT DALY, Chair of the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board, was honoured this week by then-Minister of Education for the Province of Ontario, the Honorable Steven Lecce. On a Point of Order in the Legislative Assembly, the Minister noted Pat’s remarkable service to Catholic Education: 39 years on the Board, 33 as Board Chair, just completing 6 years as President of the Ontario Catholic Schools’ Trustees Association, and 2 years as President of the Canadian Catholic Schools’ Trustees Association! Following the long applause of Members of the Legislative Assembly, Pat and his family and friends were greeted by Mr. Doug Ford, Premier of Ontario, in his office. A well-deserved tribute indeed! Congratulations!  Check out the photos here.

HOLY SEPULCHRE CEMETERY, BURLINGTON, will be the venue for a ceremony honouring Victoria Cross recipient, John McGovern, who is buried there. He was awarded the honour for deeds occurring on June 22, 1867. He is one of only 1,358 recipients of the award worldwide and one of 53 Victoria Cross recipients buried in Canada. Hosted by former Hamilton Mayor, Bob Bratina, and the Canadian Legion in Waterdown, the ceremony will mark a new memorial unveiled to honour John McGovern. Descendants of John McGovern will be in attendance. We will remember them!

THE ANNUAL NOVENA TO SAINT ANN will take place July 18-26 with Novena Prayers and Mass each evening at 7 p.m. at St. Ann Parish in Hamilton. Mindful that St. Ann has been a powerful intercessor in the past, the parish invites everyone to submit their prayer intentions at www.stannhamilton.church and they will be added to the Novena Intentions Book. Plan now to join us for the Novena!

SATURDAY, JUNE 8, 2024 – ONE MINUTE FOR PEACE!  “At 1:00 p.m. we are invited to dedicate a minute for peace – in prayer, for believers; in reflection, for non-believers – everyone together for a more fraternal world. Thanks go to Catholic Action International, which is promoting this initiative.” Pope Francis, 2019.
