of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Secondary School, Guelph
Ruby is a hardworking, generous, and faith-filled young woman. She has maintained a high academic average, while being very involved in both school and parish life.
At school, Ruby has been a member of the badminton and basketball teams and participated in school intramurals. She was also a Link Crew member, a group of senior student leaders who help mentor grade 9 students as they enter high school. Moreover, she was on the organizing committee for the school Relay for Life, a tri-school event that raises money for the Canadian Cancer Society. In her involvement, she demonstrated a conscientious and consistent work ethic, and a commitment to seeing the job through.
Ruby is an active member of St. Joseph’s Parish in Guelph. As a long-time altar server, she gradually took on a leadership role within the group, training and mentoring younger servers, organizing socials and trips for the group and helping in administrative tasks. In addition to volunteering at a number of parish events, Ruby is also a core member of the St. Joseph’s Parish youth group, where she also took on a leadership role in helping to organize and run events.
Ruby also attends Sacred Heart Parish in Guelph with her family, and has assisted with parish events there as well. Ruby is community-minded and extends beyond herself to connect with others. She is approachable, enthusiastic and a true servant leader. Ruby is planning to continue her education at university next year in the Sciences. No doubt, she will continue to make a difference wherever she goes.
