Diocese of Hamilton Student Award: Katie Young
Katie Young is the recipient of the Diocese of Hamilton Award for Bishop Tonnos Catholic Secondary School in Hamilton.
Katie has been an integral member of the school community throughout her four years at Bishop Tonnos. She has been a leader in the pro-life movement, a leader in social justice initiatives, and a leader among her peers as a member of the prestigious Prefect Council - a group of student leaders who work to welcome and mentor grade 9 students as they make the transition from elementary to high school.
During her summers, Katie has also served as a camp counsellor at Camp Brebeuf, demonstrating to young campers what it means to answer the call to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world. Bishop Tonnos CSS is incredibly proud of the amazing leadership that Katie has provided to the community.
The Diocese of Hamilton Award is given to a student in the graduating class in every high school across the Diocese at the end of every school year. The Award recognizes a student in the graduating class who has attained high academic proficiency and exemplifies Catholic leadership qualities, Christian values and a commitment to service in the community.
