The Second Annual Bishop's Charities Invitational Golf Tournament
The second annual Bishop’s Charities Invitational Golf Tournament took place on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at Oakville’s Glen Abbey Golf Course. Presenting sponsors, Tripemco Burlington Insurance Group, alongside fellow sponsors and golfers, helped raised over $70,000 for the De Mazenod Door outreach program. This program works to aid the less fortunate and marginalized of downtown Hamilton, welcoming as many as 400 guests a day, 365 days of the year.
While high winds swept over the golf course, this didn’t stop Joshua Santucci from hitting the winning hole-in-one of the day, securing him an exciting $20,000. Overall, this event has raised over $170,000 in its first two years and will provide much needed assistance to the Door ministry. Fr. Tony O’Dell, OMI, the co-founder of De Mazenod Door says of the program: “The door is the symbol of openness, welcome and hospitality…The ‘door ministry’ is a response to the immediate needs of our less fortunate parishioners and beyond in the heart of the city of Hamilton.”
