61st Annual Red Mass

61st Annual Red Mass

The Red Mass is a tradition that marks the opening of the Fall Assizes of the Supreme Court of Ontario. The Red Mass gets its name from the vestments of the priests, the robes of the judges, the tongues of fire symbolic of the Holy Spirit and the festive red of the courts. This year's Mass took place on Wednesday, September 5th at the Cathedral Basilica of Christ the King.

Bishop Douglas Crosby, OMI, celebrated the Mass and was assisted by Bishop Matthew Ustrzycki, Monsignor Murray Kroetsch, Monsignor Edward Sheridan and Father Adrian Lee, homilist and Judicial Vicar for the Hamilton Diocese Marriage Tribunal.

Special guests included students taking law from St. Thomas More Catholic Secondary School and the St. Thomas More Lawyers' Guild.
