Sing for Joy: Highlights
On the evening of Sunday, April 29th, the Cathedral Basilica of Christ the King was filled pew to pew for Sing for Joy, a concert in celebration of acquiring all seven volumes of the Heritage Edition of The Saint John's Bible. The music heard that evening was inspired by the hand-written and hand-illuminated Bible intended to "ignite the imagination."
The combined Basilica Choirs from Cathedral Basilica of Christ the King, under director and organist Rob Corso, and Basilica of Our Lady Immaculate, under director and organist Joe Carere, started off the magnificent evening, followed by the Diocesan Choir, under director Sharon Fazari. The Grand Philharmonic Choir, under artistic director Mark Vuorinen, magnificently performed Leonard Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms. The evening concluded with all three choirs joyfully singing the Hallelujah Chorus. The audience was then invited to view the illuminations featured in the concert, where the line-up stretched toward the back of the Cathedral!
It was a marvellous way to share this work of art with our diocesan community and to celebrate with song! The Saint John’s Bible is available for booking at a Parish or community event, and can also be viewed at The Bishop Farrell Library & Archives.
