2018 World Day of the Sick
World Day of the Sick is an observance started by Pope John Paul II, which falls on the memorial of Our Lady of Lourdes, on February 11th.
People around the world are encouraged to pray for the sick and for those who work very hard to ease the sufferings of the sick.
The prayer below, from St. Joseph's Health System, is inspired by Pope Francis' message for World Day of the Sick 2018.
Through the dedication and commitment of all caregivers,
especially those whose vocation it is to provide healthcare, you
reaveal to us an extraordinary witness
of love for the human person.
Strengthen and renew us in our vocation to care for the
sick and those who are marginalized in any manner.
Help us to ensure the dignity of those
who journey toward healing and
wholeness in body, mind and spirit.
As those who are sick experience an outpouring of service,
may caregivers also be cared for in abundance. Amen.
