The 10th Annual Diocesan Celebration of Catholic Education
On Thursday, September 21st staff, students and board members from the school boards across our Diocese came together to celebrate Catholic Education. This celebration was the 10th annual celebration and consisted of representatives from the Hamilton-Wentworth, Bruce-Grey, Halton, Waterloo, Wellington, Brant Haldimand Norfolk, Catholic District School Boards, as well as St. Jeromes University and Conseil scolaire catholique.
The lively event was hosted this year by Bruce-Grey Catholic District School board at Sacred Heart Parish in Walkerton. The afternoon began with a Welcome and an Acknowledgement of the Land. Bishop Crosby and Senator Ralph Wolf Thistle, Senator of the Great Lakes Métis, exchanged gifts representing the peace and the community with the Church and the Métis people. The Senator then lead a prayer and blessing. It was followed by a liturgical dance performed by the students from Sacred Heart High School. After the beautiful introduction, was a keynote address from Dan Moynihan - a youth ministry specialist from London - a long with his special guest musician Kyle Geraghty. A short break had the guests entertained out on the parish grounds by the Notre Dame Catholic School Band with special guest Ben Chaisson.
To conclude the event Bishop Crosby celebrated a Mass and the guests headed outside once more for an evening social and reception.
