
Bookkeeper/Secretary
St. Charles Garnier Parish in Hamilton is recruiting for a Bookkeeper/Secretary. Reporting to the Parish Priest, this position requires a commitment of 15 hours a week. This position offer competitive compensation and benefits.
Primary responsibilities include:
- - Accounting, bookkeeping for the parish and payroll for a small office team
- - Maintaining accurate records
- - Enter individual constributions to PDS (Parish Data System)
- - Makes deposits and monistors fund balances regularly
- - Prepares financial statements for the Church, for the Diocese, and for Revenue Canada
- - Prepares tax receipts for parishioners and T4s for employees and Canada Revenue
- - Maintains records of financial transactions and reports
- - Responds to inquiries by phone, email, or in person
- - Records mass intentions, sacramental registration information and issues sacramental certificates
- - Maintains and updates the church calendar of events and Parish Data System
- - Prepares materials for the church and orders supplies
- - Coordinates and assists the work of the Pastor
- - Prepares weekly bulletins
- - Maintains church website and Facebook page
Skill requirements:
- - Practical knowledge of basic accounting practices and principles
- - Familiarity with Quickbooks
- - Intermediate knowledge of Excel
- - Competence in Word
- - Excellent written and oral communication skills including effective interpersonal skills
- - Familiarity of the Roman Catholic liturgical practices and sacraments
